 Wheel weights or weight box?

Well I just finished moving 24 tons of 2 1/2 in. washed rock with my 1320 New Holland. with the 68" bucket I could get quite a load. My concern is, which is better, wheel weights or a weight box. The box scaper I had on was not even close to being enough weight. Thanks.

I prefer a weight box. while useing loader it can be attached quickly & is also more weight than a box blade. you can also remove it easyer than wheel weights for other chores which you don't need extra lbs such as mowing (mid mount of course).

 Wheel weights or weight box?

Wheel weights vs weight box--For a counter-weight when using the front-end loader for heavy loads I made a 3-point weight from a large galvanized "bushel" basket, cement,a cheap category 1 drawbar & top-link. Also get a short tongue to stick out the back for a ball-hitch or pin hole.Put the drawbar thru the "bushel" basket off-center parallel to the opening of the basket so most of the weight of the concrete will extend behind the drawbar.Hook the top-link to the drawbar and poke it thru the bottom of the basket.Run the tongue out the back of the basket after securing it to the drawbar. Then add an extentsion(I used flower-bed edging--about 6 inches),add any heavy pieces of junk and wire and fill with concrete. You`ll end up with about 250 lbs thats leveraged in the right direction, and you still pull a trailer.A 6 or 8 inch skirt enables more weight and elevates the rig sitting on the ground for easy hook-up.It is still pretty compact on the back of the tractor for working in tight places.
