There are quite a few inexpensive PHA's that are made by regional fabrication shops. Dealers usually know of several and have their favourite. I have one, it works fine in our soil and I'm not sure if there is actually has a brand name. There are no manuals or instructions for it and it was priced accordingly.

More expensive brand-name types have been discussed here and BRADCO may have been the brand name. Those type units are maybe more rugged and also often have down-pressure kit options and other features. I've never needed down-pressure myself and probably would tie sandbags onto the boom if I did.

I'm not sure how much ground-clearance a 7100 has but there is an issue. The 3ph of a short tractor (I think lower lift arms can be short as well) may not raise high enough to lift the auger tip off the ground. If so, that makes driving let along digging holes difficult. Many PHA's have a set of three mounting positions for the boom onto the yoke that adjust the height of the auger, but some have only one. If there's doubt about the ground clearance, I'd be sure I got an auger where the height is adjustable. Of course, the problem also can be fixed with a bit of welding. It's probably easiest if the dealer where an auger is purchased agrees that the particular model will work on a 7100.

I am also looking at purchasing one. From all I have read, there are light duty models from places like Tractor Supply that apparently work well if you soil is not rocky. If it is rocky, you need a heavier duty model. Light duty cost about $400 for the drive unit + about $100 to $150 per auger bit (sold separately). Augers come in 6", 9", 12" and larger. Heavy duty drive units + an auger push $1000 or more.
