 Brillion or Landpride Seeder

Has anyone used a Brillion Seeder or Landpride 3pt seeder on their Yanmar? I am interested in any experiences you have had with them and sharing them with me.

 Brillion or Landpride Seeder

i haven't ever used one on a yanmar but i've used a brillion on several other machines.i demoed a land pride but prefer the brillion surestand.the 5'6 brillion i have now was bought by my dad in the 50's and has been and still is a good machine.i also have a 8 footer but it takes a bigger machine to handle on account it wieghts a little over a ton.the smaller one has been on a 1210 ford,b1550 kubota, and now i use it behind a 1530 boomer.i would be affraid to guess how many acres either machine has planted.just my opinion.have a hppy holiday.

 Brillion or Landpride Seeder

I have landpride's 6 foot model on a JD 970. It works well and does a good job.
The last job I did though resulted in a mutilated seed cup. I am not sure of the
cause of this and haven't looked at since. It will be a winter job. the seed cups
have been proven on the popular Great Plains drills and I suspect a lack of
maintenance on my part. I bought this in 1995, since then I noticed they changed
the flutes from plastic to powdered metal. Other than that I have planted about 40
acres of a combination of lawn, sunflower, wheat, rye, and pasture mix seed with no
problems. I looked at Brillion's and it seemed fine except the arms that the packer
axles mount on are cast iron, LP's is machined steel. I have seen a few old Brillion
pulverizers with broken cast iron endplates and CI does not weld very well.
After using the Landpride I have found the seed agitator to be inedaquate when the seed
level goes below it. Brillion's agitator seems like it would be more effective at that point.

I dont think you could go wrong either way.

The 970 is 3000# a loaded LP PS72 is about 1200# the tractor manages
it well with front weights but you dont want to seed with a loader on
because the weight will push the skinny front tires down and create a
tire track that removers on the seeder cant erase.

Good luck
