 PTO shaft for 24 RAD Debris Blower

I just picked up a RAD debris blower that I got off ebay. I have no paperwork for it but I am guessing from the housing that it has a 24" diameter fan. I didn't come with a PTO shaft. I have 27hp at the PTO on my JD4310. Would a PTO shaft rated for 16hp at Northerntool.com do the job? Or do I have to get the one rated at 35hp?

Joe

Crunch;
I don't think I'd feel safe with that light of a PTO shaft.
What is a derbris blower, or is it a snow blower? Does it run off the rear or mid PTO shaft?
The mid PTO turns at 1900 RPM, I think. You can push a lot more horsepower thru a faster spinning shaft. Frank.

Hello Frank, it is a leaf blower. Just a fan that pushes air and it drives off the rear PTO. It takes a spline connection at the implement.

Crunch;
Guess i never saw a PTO leaf blower, It doesn't seem it would take much power to operate it. But to be on the safe side I think I'd opt for the heavier shaft.
Frank.

For the $10 difference in price would buy the 35 hp rated shaft. The 16 might be sufficient on this blower but the next item you would probably then have to buy the higher rated shaft.

Do check for proper length before you buy and certain don't install too long or too short a shaft for too long WILL damage something and too short can also.

I have the answer. I purchased the PTO shaft rated for 16 hp. It almost lasted 2 years. Yesterday the universal cross broke from the torque when I engaged the PTO. It had probably weakened or cracked over time. Lesson learned!

Crunch.
