Can someone explain the proper technique to use when using a double roller pulverizer? I tried it today and didn't have much luck. The second roller contacts the ground and rolls, but the first one doesn't. Should I drop the 3 pt all the way down, or should I hold the pulverizer up so just the first coulple of inches of the shanks penatrate the ground. Anyone with any experience please share with me. Thank You

The H-Beam to which the spikes are attached should be just slightly above the level you are trying to achieve and both rollers should contact. There are usually downpressure springs on the rollers to insure good contact for crushing clods. The H-Beam should be level with the ground. Adjust the top link as needed for this. Usually you can drive forward or reverse with this implement and it will work fine. If you are working with very hard soil you may have to start with a few passes with the pulverizer slightly raised to scratch and loosen the surface. Then drop down as the soil becomes more workable. It is not a one pass operation. You go over the area repeatedly to level and crush clods. After a few passes you will have a nice seedbed for sowing grass seed or installing sod.

Try pushing the toplink back to force the rollers back. this may cause the front of the h-beam not to contact the ground but that is no big deal. also if you drive in relatively tight circles while the implement is down and keep going around and around while moving the circles around a little each time you will find that you can level a little better. when all is level then make paralell passes to smooth out the ground. hope that helps
