 Advice-3 Pt. Landscape Rake

I own a BX 2300 and am considering a 3 pt. Landpride landscape rake. The dealer is recommending the 05 series rakes because they have 12" teeth as opposed to the 15 series which has 16" teeth. I'm told the 05 series with the 12 inch teeth are made for the BX models because of limited lift height. He said the BX would lift the 16" teeth but there would not be much clearance. I'm not sure clearance is that big of an issue. Is it? I like the added weight of the 15 series (275 lbs to 182) and the 5/16" teeth on the 15 as opposed to 1/4" on the 05 series. I would get a 60 inch wide rake in both models. Power is not an issue as the BX fits well within the HP rating on both.

I will be using it on 2 acres of land to clear small rocks and to shape the ground for lawn and landscaping.

Any suggestions as to the clearance issue or any other issues would be much appreciated.

Brian

Clearance becomes an issue only if you are on lumpy, hilly land.

Weight can be modified too. If you buy the shorter rake and find it too light for the job at hand, just add a couple of bricks or sandbags or some steel and it can gain weight real fast.

Thanks, DRankin. I thought about adding weight if need be as well. If I needed to add weight in some cases, do you thing there would be any other performance differences to go to the bigger model? If, not I just as well go with the BX model so I Know there will not be any clearance issues. The teeth on the BX model are 12 inches high and 16" on the bigger model but I don't see that as a big deal. I'm having a hard time seeing that there would be any other issues other than the weight.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Brian
