Wheel weights for compact diesel tractor

Looking to buy used front & rear wheel weights for my tractor. I live in the Sweetwater Tn area. Is their any tractor salvage yards in this area to locate these weights? I am willing to travel a fair distance to get what I need. My 2 wheel drive tractor is very light in the front end even with a 5' bush hog I plan on a box scraper soon so some weight is really needed.

I think used wheel weights for a compact tractor will be very difficult to find. We would proably add liquid ballast to the rear tires for weight and add suitcase (hang on) weights on the front bumper. We have the hang on weights available for $30.00 dollars each they weight 42 lbs a piece. Generally 4 or 5 are required to do the job and counter balance a 5ft rotary cutter. I just picked up the 2 two piece front wheel weights and one 40 lb bolt on front weight for my Mitsu from OK Tractors in Newton NC. The wheel weights were 25 lbs each, 100 lb total. The five pieces cost 30 bucks. Shipping on weights would cost more than the weights. They had a bunch of different front wheel weights but I didnt see any rears. Check out OK's web site, They are actually Corriher Implement Company.

I have an International 234 compact tractor. These tractors are fairly light and seem to run out of traction long before horsepower. I looked for cast iron rear wheel weights but could not find any used ones (new ones would be too costly). I made rear wheel weights from cement. My rear wheels are solid center with holes to bolt on cast weights. Here's what I did.

1. Installed three anchor bolts through the hubs with the ends that get cemented in facing out.

2. I lined the hub with plastic sheet to keep the cement from sticking to the hub.

3. I made a ring to fit around the hub (where it meets the tire) from aluminum roof flashing. This was about 6 inches high. Since the wheel would fill with cement before I had enough weight it was necessary to have the cement stick out past the wheel thus the 6 inch high ring.

4. Filled each wheel with 2 bags of cement .. total weight per wheel is about 160 pounds.

5. After the cement cured for a week I removed the nuts and washers from the inside of the wheel and removed the hardened cement weights.

6. I also used an anchor bolt set sideways so I could attach a eye bolt to lift the weights when mounting and dismounting.

These have been in use for 2 years with no problems. Total cost was $8.00 each.

For those on a budget hope this helps.
