 Repairing Tire Punctures

Do the radial/steel belted road tire "plugs" work to repair thorn punctures in tractor tires (R4's) or is there some special type designed for tractor tires? Does it really matter whether a tire is plugged or patched on a tractor?

I have used those repair kits on tractor tires and they work very well. As long as it is rubber and not high pressure it should work on any type of tire.

Fortunately, I've not had to fix any flats on my own tractor yet, but I've used the "plugs" on a riding lawnmower tire a couple of times and they worked very well. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on my tractor, assuming of course, that it's a tubeless tire. A tube type will have to have the tube removed and patched.

I don't know about thorn punctures, but the automotive type plugs work great for nail holes in tubeless turf tires. I've used them for 20 years. Keep the gooey rubber strips wrapped up tight in plastic bags and they last for years in the tool box. For low pressure, low speed, high flex use like tractor tires I think the plugs are better than the patches.
