 Back Hoe for L4400 Kubota

What can I expect to pay for a serviceable Back Hoe for a 2006 L4400 Kubota.

I'd like to be able to install & remove it safely (for an Old Pharte) and wonder if a 3 point would dig well(red South Carolina Dirt/Clay), or should I search for a Chassis Mount?

Thanks

Jack

Either mount would dig the same but the question is whether the rear hitch and the tractor frame are designed to take the strain. The answer (and the price) might depend on the size of the hoe.

 Back Hoe for L4400 Kubota

Hawk88;
Welcome aboard, it's always good to get some new blood in the mix here.
I wouldn't want to even guess about the cost of a hoe now, I've had mine for probably ten years and don't remember what it cost them.
I've been a fan of frame mount hoes rather than three point. As auerbach pointed out most three point hitches weren't designed to handle the super rough use a babkhoe can give them.
Any attachment that is mounted to the frame of a tractor like a loader or backhoe subframe attachment should in my opinion be of the same brand as the tractor.
The attachment has been designed to mount in the proper places on the tractor, the hydraulics of the attachment are designed to match the flow rates, pressures, etc of the tractor, while a different brand attachment may not fasten to the tractor in the most favorable place so far as the stress on the tractor frame can handle.
Three point mounted equipment can be of any brand being they aren't fastened directly to the tractor frame.

Auerbach and Hardwood,
Thanks for the Sage advice, makes sense, I'll pursur a frame mount from/for a Kubota L 4400.
Never owned tools like this before, and beong Medically Retired, can't afford any "f-Nugy" mistakes,
The old Army Bud that helped us find the tract and pushed enough trees, Bushogged, etc. Around to find a Homesite on it uses a 23 Hp Kubota.
I've been really impressed with it.
Sure hope buying this stufg ain't grounds for Divorce!Smile
Jack

Just explain to her that it was designed by Mrs. Kubota for hubby to tidy up the planting beds.

Assuming you're new to tractors, let me comment. There's all sorts of attachments for the rear hitch, and (in the same size category) they all fit and attach/detach in a minute.

One exception is the front loader. It's highly useful but costly, usually stays on, and should be chosen and installed professionally.

The other is the hoe. It's heavy to wrestle on and off, and when on prevents the use of other attachments. It's costlier than the loader, and bigger ones can make it hard to use the tractor for other things. So calculate how many hours of hoeing you'll ever do, and how many hours you could rent a dedicated hoe or hire someone to use his -- for the cost of your buying (and having to store, maintain, and some day sell) it.

Or find out if a factory subframe and hoe combo is available for your model, put the word out that you're in the market for a used one, and wait.
