 Compact Tractor Loaders

I have a Shibaura SD 1843. I have been loking for a loader for it. I have seen several posts pro and con regarding Homestead Tractors. I have also been wondering about Koyker or Kelly. I understand that there is no mounting kit available yet for the Kelly or Koyker. My questions are...What you folks think about the overall quality of these three brands of loaders??Have you had trouble with any of them?Did you have to fabricate a mounting system to fit your tractor? Are there other brands I should look at??Thanks...

 Compact Tractor Loaders

Here is a post from another message board on the subject. I have nore confidence in the engineering of a loader from a loader company that maked loaders for many sizes of tractors, than a company that makes them for just compact tractors. REPOST: About two years ago, I purchased a loader for my YM2210 from Homestead Tractor. It was by far the least expensive loader, which at the time fit my budget well. However, there were some problems with it fitting my tractor. At Homestead, they assemble the loaders on an old tractor frame to ensure a proper fit. Unfortunately, it was assembled on the wrong tractor frame and it did not fit. In their defense, they shipped me all of the pieces to make it work. Fortunately I had a welder and metalworking tools to make it fit.
After these problems, I had several months of good service before I found the next problem. One day I noticed that the bucket had a lot of slop in it when it pivoted. I found the problem was that Homestead had designed all of the pivot points with just a simple hardened pin that sits in a holes in the square tubing of the loader. Over time these holes had become egg shaped due to wear. They failed to properly design the loader with a lubricated pivot point for the bucket and loader arms to articulate on. I was forced to drill out these holes and weld in a piece of steel tubing with a grease fitting for the pin to pivot in.
There were some other minor problems due to poor engineering as well. The hydraulic hoses are attached to the loader arms with a small straps of steel that abraded the hoses when the loader is raised and lowered. This required me to put small pieces of fire hose around the hydraulic hosed to stop the wear.
In summary, the loaders are inexpensive, but be prepared to spend a bit of time fixing the problems that occur due to poor engineering.
