 Shibaura Tractor

I'm looking for a operators manuel to this tractor or someone who could tell me how to get it in 4wd and which lever it would be to pull. If any one could help. Thanks

Julie, don't own this tractor but perhaps we can reason this one out. I know everything is in Japanese but they are pretty good about graphics too. Look to see if you see something with 4 wheels and connection between them on the fenders. One of your levers should correspond to this location also. On mine, a Hinomoto, it shows two wheels with half of the connection between them filled in 2wd, for 4wd it shows a solid connection between the 4 wheels. Look and see if you don't have something similar and try it out. Good luck,
Jerri

I've got the same logo on my Ford 1710, which has a Shibaura engine and maybe more Shibaura parts for all I know.

On the 1710, the 4wd lever is the one of the right side of the transmission case, below the 3ph control. 'Back' engages the 4wd. The lever floats a bit back and forth, but there is a definite feeling that something engages when it goes into 4wd. The left side lever is the PTO.

Perhaps the problem can be resolved easier by finding which levers aren't the 4wd. Most tractors have levers for 4wd, 3ph and PTO. You can see the PTO and 3ph work. The remaining lever should be the 4wd.

Some persons seem to have difficulty engaging their 4wd's, I haven't. One of the tricks to engage 4wd is to lift the front wheels with the loader bucket. Centering the steering also may help.
