 Forklift for 4100 3PH

I'm considering pallet forks for the 3PH of a JD 4100. Generally, I'm guessing it's easier to stack bulk items on a low pallet than trying to load them into a small trailer. Bulk items include barrels (full), trees for planting, and an occasional pallet with lumber for fencing. My heaviest load should be under 300 lbs. Has anyone used a 4100 like this? Does it work well? What's a reasonable price for the forks? I've been quoted around $275 for an economy model. Thanks in advance. JonB

Can you give me more info on the forks you were quoted. The couple places I have talked to, can only come up with a carry-all(a $60 frame that you bolt a sheet of plywood to, to make a platform.) Who makes it and what is it like? Is it like the carriage of a forklift(the forks and frame without the mast)? Any help is appreciated.

It sounds to me like a carry-all is really what you need. It is much less expensive than 3pt forks. It is quite home-buildable. You could even make one out of wood or slotted steel. The one I have I bought for $60 brand new at an auction. (The dealer sold 8 at that price)Good LuckKim

You can see a carry all at the TSC (Tractor Supply Company) site. Go to [http:www.tractorsupplyco.com]and click on "Catalog" at the bottom, then "3 Point Equipment", and then "Carry All". I have seen carry alls at most tractor implement stores. I paid $49 for mine. Current price is around $60. You can not buy the steel in one for that much less welded up. Very usefull. However, you will have to add a platform of some type. I used plywood. I have seen at least one modified to carry firewood.

After reading the responses to my original post, I realized I was considering "pallet forks", and not a "fork lift." The pallet forks (I saw) are made by Gearmore, weigh 90 lbs, and can handle 1200 lbs. I took a look at the "carry-all" and it seems like a great solution for me. Now I'm trying to find someone who deals in them in Northern California. I've checked with a few local dealers and none handle a carry all (although they'll sell me forks). The Tractor Supply Co., has no dealer in California. So... I'll keep looking. Thanks for your advice.
