 4300 Transmission Leak

Background:I just purchased a 4300 Sync-Reverser. Have about 5 hours on the tractor. The first 4 hours were spent doing some blackberry clearing (it had 1 hour on it when I purchased it). During that time a few stumps and logs were ran over gingerly. After the clearing I noticed a heavy leak from the transmission drain plug housing (Suction Screen Cover, picture on pg 126 of owners manual). I dropped by my dealer and asked if they could take a look. The message back was bring it in and we should have it back in about a week. I decided to check it out myself. I thought it had to be a failed gasket so I ordered one up and was told it would be in the next day. 5 days later, it came in. I pulled the suction screen cover off last night and the gasket looked fine. I then inspected the cover. It is made of fairly light aluminum and it was warped.Question:Has anyone else experienced this with the 4200,4300,4400. JD

 4300 Transmission Leak

JDI also have a 4300 with Sync-Reverser with 16 hours on the tractor. I was moving it and noticed fluid accumulating on the rear tire. A quick exam indicated it was transmission fluid and it appeared to be comming from around the transmission filter. I haven't had time to look further but I will look at the drain tomorrow. By the way I was able to get about 1/8 turn on the filter. Also check your lug nuts, my left rear were hand tight. If my cover looks warped, I'll give another response.JK

 4300 Transmission Leak

I ripped my housing off within first 50 hours of use. You probably wacked it on something. It is in a very vulnerable place. When you order a new one, order a spare.

 4300 Transmission Leak

I have a 4300 and my main leak is from the rear PTO. It is always wet there and on the floor of the shed, so it is even leaking when standing still. This weekend one of the connections on loader [front left connecting the hose to the metal tube] sprang a monster leak and was spewing fluid all over the place. It must have never been tightened properly as I only have about 5 hours on the loader. I have talked to the dealer and they will fix it [including pick-up and delivery.]In addition the filler cap was cross threaded. A new one was only 65 cents, but the gasket was $8.00!!
