 loader drop

I have a new compact tractor with loader. If I leave the bucket up say 2 foot with a light load of 300 or so and shut the tractor off the bucket will drop to groud after a hour or so. Is this normal or should i take it in for repair. It is in garage when this happens and their are no leaks. thanks johnson

Does the loader drop when the tractor is running ? If not you have no problem. It is an unsafe practice to leave any load suspended with a loader and the tractor not running. Always lower the bucket to the ground when you shut the tractor off. This also releases pressure on the hydraulic system so your system is not under load. When ever parking a loader shut the tractor off and then activate the lift and tilt control in both directions to relieve all pressure in the system. That way the hyd system has no stored energy. This way if childern or an unqualified person were to touch the loader controls with the tractor parked nothing will happen. Think about it, two kids, a raised loader bucket one kid on the tractor another under the loader and one touches the controls as all kids do. This is not a pretty picture. A loader is a dangerous piece of equipment for many reasons. Your loader drops because all hydraulics have internal leakage it is just a question of how much. Very worn out hyd will drop with the tractor running, this is an indication that a rebuild is required.

I agree. It's an internal leak, probably the relief valve in the hydraulic controls. You see this all the time on alot of old farm tractors' 3pt hitches. Given that it's a new tractor, my bet is something requires adjustment. It should be fixed, as its apt to get worse over time and the warrenty should cover it.
