 Which Tractor ? (again)

Thanks to those who have responded. A little more info of my needs... (message3803) I do NOT need to have the loader and the mower on at the same time. They will come into need at different times of the year MOST of the time. I was just looking more for information on tractor size and hp. Since I need both speed for efficient cutting of a large area and handling for the yard (about 1/2 acre with trees and shrubs to go around). I know there will be a compromise since no machine does all things well, but do I go for HP's for the landscaping help or slightly smaller for mowing. After the house is built and down the road a few years, I would think the primary use would be mowing (both lawn and 4.5 acre) and snow removal (300 ft drive). I have not heard from any Kubota supporters? The more of these messages I read the more I think the 4100 may be the way to go. But it seems I could get a better deal on a Kubota with a few less HP's (7300 ,1700, 2100)...???

I own a Cub 7260. During my buying I looked at the smallermodels you mentioned, the JD4100, the KB 1700, 7300, 2100 etc.You may want to investigate the Cub 7025. In terms of size,it is between the Kubota B series and L series (weights about2000 lbs), similar to JD 770/790.The stats for this size Cub are as good if not better than theones you are considering. The hydraulics are great. You can run your loader, middeck, and rear lift allat the same time. The loader, if similar to mine, comes on andoff in less than 5 minutes.Check it out, maybe the machine you need, small but heavyduty.

Guy, You may want to take a close look at the Kubota 2710HST. It has the horses and small size that would seem to do all your looking for and more. The price is probably a little more than the 4100, but the 2710 will definately meet your needs. Check the Kubota Source page for more info.

I cannot complan about my JD 4100! I bought it beacause of the price, I wanted bigger, but now having it I am glad I did. It's a great little tractor. I have mowed with a 5' finishing mower, plowed snow, moved dirt, pushed and pulled trees, and have graded aprivate road. The only complaint I have is the price of attachments! I cannot affordthe toys I want for it.The loader comes off in about 2 Minutes! It is hard to believe how simple they havemake it!!!Good luck!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that any tractor with 18 hp or more willbe sufficient. Weight, traction, transmission, convenience, and steering willbe the things you should base the decision on. I am on and off the tractor constantly, so I rate this higher than most would. Roger L.
