 Flail Mower

I'm purchasing a compact tractor for tilling, leveling, and keeping the straw, weeds, grass in a field down. I planned to use a rotary mower (bush hog) and then a finish mower to make give it a more polished look (for football, riding bikes, etc).My JD dealer has recommended a Gearmore Flail Mower for a JD 4100. $3,000 for a flail seems high, but arguably the flail would reduce time cutting. I've got 2 Rhino flail mowers. One is a 74-inch cut and the other is an 88-inch cut. Rhino is made in Seguin, Texas where I live. You can't buy directly from them, you have to use one of their dealers I wouldn't trade either of these mowers. They are well built and parts (when you need them) are easy to get. I do a lot of mowing with these mowers and I change the blades once a year. The blades are reverseable, so half-way through the mowing season I reverse them, then in the off season I put on new ones. The 88-inch mower has 216 "knives" as they are called and the 74-inch mower has 188 knives.
