 TN75S Overhead Fan Problem

Having to replace the overhead fan for the 3rd time, in as many years in our New Holland TN75S cab tractor. Anyone have a similar problem, or suggestions as to the cause? It, and the radio, soley occupy a 25 amp circuit. The dealer put a 30 amp fuse in the last fan replacement, which blew today (6/27/04). The fan sounds "god awful" (like the bearings are gone)and only turns on high position. Fuse blows after about 6 seconds.

Replacement means removing the headliner and roof. The headliner is riveted into place. How do you remove rivets? A nail punch? problemsatatinvestusa.net

Thanks, Ken

To remove rivets, use a drill the same size as the shank of the rivet would be or the size of the hole the rivet was put in, same thing. Drill out the center of the rivet and the rest will fall around the shank of the drill.

 TN75S Overhead Fan Problem

Sounds like the fan and bearing set up was designed for vertical mounting, where the bearings ride on the race. Have a look at the bearing when you get it out and see if the bearings, ball, barrell or needle are riding on a race that is horizontal or is it a race that is vertical and the bearings are riding on their ends on a surface that wasn't meant for a bearing surface. If so, look around at a bearing supply place like Tech Bearing and you can find one with the right id and od to replace it that works for a horizontal aplication.

As a nh tech you do not have to remove the head liner. the roof it self is hinged.
