 NH Controls Question

I'm thinking strongly about retiring my trusty old 8N. Have been looking at JD, Kubota, and NH. Question for you NH owners (Boomer or predecessor, with HST): What exactly does the left-foot pedal do (the one the appears to be a clutch)? Dealer says it's a "hydraulic dump" and also that it is the clutch for PTO. What does it do exactly, and when do you use it? I'm so confused...

I don't know what NH calls it, but it's a clutch. You use it to engage and disengage the PTO's and the drive. If you don't push it in before you try to shift the pto you can grind gears just like on your 8N. Most of the time you don't need to use it for the drive as the center position of the HST pedal is neutral. Hope this helps.

The left pedal is a clutch. You must engage it to turn the PTO on and when switching ranges on the transmission. For normal operation in a single speed range without the PTO, you never use it. Well you do actually have to push the clutch in to start the thing....

 NH Controls Question

The only thing I would like to add is its REALLY nice to have a hydrostat that you can disengage. Multiple times I have had to drag a little rider mower around the farm (with the wheels not turning) because it won't start or something. The Boomer can be put in neutral and towed.Dennis
