 Water Pump

I have a TC 40D that is just over 2 years old (out of warranty by 2 weeks). I was just out in the field tilling and noticed a bolt had vibrated loose on my tiller. When the tractor was in the drive while I tightend the bolt I noticed some fluid had dripped from the tractor. Upon close inspection it appears the impeller shaft seal has went out on the water pump. Has anyone experienced this with thier TC35/40/45 tractors? I've only got 287 hrs on this machine and I'm a little dissapointed to be losing a water pump already. Any similar experiences would be appreciated. THANKS!

This is a post that got by everyone. There have been some problems with the rad brackets but not the pump. Check that the rad has not been hitting the pump.

Yes, this is the sort of post that shouldn't fall through the cracks. I haven't heard of any reports myself. The seal on my Ford is almost 20 years old and I'd be disappointed if it failed.

If you haven't talked to the dealer maybe there's some warranty flexibility for this sort of thing. The dealer isn't likely to care as long as he'd get paid for the work. NH may not want customers out there who tell 'two week out of warranty stories.' If you dealer says 'no dice' I'd call the 800 CS number on the NH site. They might say 'no dice' as well but it doesn't take very long to find out.

You might reference this site and indicate the number of discussions over the past year or two about NH cooling system problems. Negative publicity generally motivates CS types. If CS calls it a design problem rather than a premature failure it should get fixed and a factory upgrade issued. Dealers can't make this sort of call themselves but usually would pitch the problem to their regional factory rep. Basically, you're not alone. Nobody wants this sort of thing to happen and the trick is to get the issue before the corporate people who do make such calls.
