Has anyone had any problems with the taillights on a TC-33? My new tractors' taillights seem to work when they feel like it. It is only the right side though.I can not get the light to stay broken long enough to pinpoint the problem. Busboy

If it's a very new tractor maybe the problem could wait until the dealer services it. For a do it yourself urge, bad socket or bad ground are likely candidates.

I really don't know if all new tractors still have steel fenders or not, but I'd the wiring going to the light to see if one or two wires go to it. If it's one then the fender is steel and the light gets it;s ground from the chassis through the light mounting stud. New factor paint can make for a poor ground connection and I'd clean the mounting area down to bright steel (might make it rust though). If it has two wires then one of them is a ground wire I'd use a VOM to figure which one is hot. With the tractor off, the other wire should have continuity to ground. I'd try to figure where it goes, put an ohm meter on it and tug and wiggle tings to see if the continuity breaks. In general, I'd also find any connectors in the wiring and clean them with contact cleaner.

To test the socket, with the tractor off, an ohm meter should read the lamp resistance from the hot wire to the chassis. I'd find a connector in the hot wire and put an ohm meter on it. If jiggling the light changes the reading then the socket probably is bad.
