I know there are not too many 1320 owners here, but this might be similar to some other Ford/NH models. My 1320 has a 3 speed hydro. I notice that in both forward and reverse, when I let off the pedal, it does not come to an immediate stop. Instead it often continues rolling under some power. My JD 755 hydro stops like RIGHT NOW when I let off the pedal. What does your Ford/NH 20 series do?

Maybe I just have to lube the pedal pivot or linkage or something...

I have a very general grasp of HST theory. Maybe somebody knows specifics and I'll gain a better idea. One of the advantages of HST over gears I've heard is that they are self-braking, but I've never been certain exactly what that means. I have a general sense that the motor works against itself when flow from the pump is less than required to sustain motor speed. I don't know if the idea is right or even if some HST's are designed to provide more positive stopping at neutral on the speed pedal.

I guess there is the possibility of design differences between the NH and JD HST's. There are many choices of pump and motor types, and some may have more positive stopping than others. However, checking and adjusting the linkages of the 1320 seems like a good idea. There certainly is the possibility that neutral on the speed pedal doesn't quite produce a zero flow on the pump. I don't know if wear on the pump swash plate might produce the problem or even if the 1320 uses a variable swash plate type of pump. I have more questions than answers here I guess.

Most likely the pedals aren't coming back to where they should be. I have a JD 4610 and when you let off either pedal completely, you best be ready to stop.

Don

Sorry I can't give you a solution, butI think TomG and Billy are on the right track. Its probably in the linkage adjustment.

I've used a 1520, it stopped every time. I've used a couple different JD, and when set up right they stop dead, when set up wrong they creep. My Massey had the same problem, but since it was under warranty, so I didn't have to get involved in the fix.

My new BX22 is doing something like that. It comes to an abrupt stop when I release the pedal, then it will slowly creep in reverse, maybe a couple inches a minute, until I reduce the throttle or tap on the forward petal, or both. I figure that with less than 20 hours it might just be new and stiff, so I am just going to keep an eye on it for now.
