I have just ordered a remote kit from a dealer for my NH 1725 compact...I am going to install it myself...any tips or tricks (or warnings) before I commense?...

I'm not sure if the kit is a two-spool remote valve kit similar to on listed as an option in my 1710 parts manual or more like what JD calls a power-beyond kit. The PB kit extends the PB line to the rear and provides fittings where an additional valve can be operated. Either installation should be fairly straightforward.

I donít know the quality of directions supplied with the kit but some notes about 2-spool remote installations follow. If a 1725 is similar to my 1710, you'd be tapping into the auxiliary system ports on the manifold/diverter block. Neither the aux system ports nor the diverter valve positions are really marked on my diverter valve, so I'd have to identify them from a manual.

The valve likely is a power-beyond type that has two outlet ports. One of them (the TANK or low-pressure return) goes directly to the sump. A plug in the cases is removed and replaced by a fitting for the hose. The directions should identify the plug as it may not be obvious. The other return goes back to the aux system return port on the manifold block. It's important not to confuse the two lines. Most all valve assemblies port IDís stamped on the inlet and outlet sections, but the ID's can be variable. The inlet port is 'P' or 'IN' while the outlet back to the block is 'PB' and the low pressure to the sump is 'TANK' or maybe blank.

Installation should be little more than 'connecting the dots' from the directions. I would ensure the fittings etc. and especially the threads are free from foreign particles before assembly and use a standard sealant. I'd avoid playing Hercules with the wrenches and remember to check the TX oil level if new cylinders are charged. Bleeding isnít usually required on tractor hydraulic systems.

If it's anything like my TC33D it is really easy. The instructions were clear and there were good illustrations.
I had to jack up and remove the rear tire to do mine. It took longer to remove and install the tire (using hand tools only) than it did to install the system. My system listed at $280 and I got it for $250. Dealer wanted 1.5 hours labor to install. Impostant to note. My 33D is only a few months old and I noticed rust forming between the valve body and the other surfaces. I scrubbed of the rust and coated everything with a light coat of hyd. oil beyond the mounting surfaces for extra insurance. My dealer was caught off-guard about the size of the remote fittings--he thought they were the smaller 3/8" but are actually the "standard" 1/2".

Thanks for the reminder Jeff. I have some spray type rust check stuff I use and forgot to spray fenders etc. when I did the set up for winter thing last month.
