 770A hydraulics

Doing project w/ 770A FEL yesterday and noticed the performance of loader seemed off. When dumping bucket the was a point where the bucket would stop dumping. If I tipped the bucket up I could then immediately dump bucket. If I tried to just continue dump nothing would happen for a period of time then it would work fine. It appears to me that the hydraulic fluid if full and it was changed about 50 hours ago and looks clean. Anyone have any insight?? Thanks for all your help.

That sounds like pretty normal operation for many loaders that lack a fast dump feature. What happens is that the hydraulics starts the dump, but then the load itself wants to dump the bucket faster than the pump can supply oil to extend the shaft. Most of the load dumps, and then the bucket waits for the pump to catch up.

There is a discussion in the archives that talks about oil cavitation in the cylinders and other details. Using a higher rpm will reduce but not completely eliminate the pause. It's also more pronounced with heavier loads. Anyway very likely nothing is wrong with the loader.

Tom G., You're right the loads were very heavy! and You're right, when the RPM's were high the problem was not as pronounced. Thanks for the help, I was figuring there was a hydraulic problem. Matt
