What size NH Boomer Do I Need?

I have around 2.5- 3 acres to mow,( like to use a large finishing mower) as well I would like to use a tiller, and maybe do landscaping with a loader. Which one of the Boomer series do you think would work best for this situation. I am new to the tractors, but I like what people are saying. What options do you think I would benefit from? Thanks for all your help,Keith

According to the Boomer literature, the 18 & 21 will handle up to the 60" tiller; to go to the 72" tiller you'll need at least the 25. Similarly, the 18 & 21 will handle up to the 60" belly mower; to go to the 72" you'll need at least the 25. On the rear finish mowers, it doesn't have anything for the 18, no more than 60" for the 21, and at least the 25 for the 72". You can get the smaller model 7106 loader for the 18 & 21 or the larger 7308 loader for the 25, 29, and 33. Mostly it depends on what you want to use it for. I want the 72" belly mower,so my choices start at the 25. I'm looking at a 60" tiller so that doesn't rule any out. The reach and lifting capacities of both loaders are more than I plan to use so that dosn't rule any out either. I feel more comfortable buying in the middle or upper limits so while they say a 72" belly mower works on the 25 through the 33, I would probably lean towards the 29 or the 33. It boils down to what are you going to use it for; determine the jobs you're going to do, find out what implements it's going to take to get them done, then size the tractor to the implements, again, I'd be on the conservative side and go with a tractor that falls at least in the middle.

I think you'd better talk to owners and get more info before you put a 60" tiller behind any tractor the size of a TC18 or 21, You don't have the ponies to do a decent job with that big a machine. It will be like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

True, that's why I said that this information came from the product literature and, more importantly, why I would be on the conservative side of what the manufacturer has written. The core of my answer is that you need to determine what tasks need to be done first. From that information, you can determine what size tractor is needed. Also, you ought to be able to take the tractor for a test-drive, and not just in the dealer's lot. The dealer I've spoken with will deliver a unit to my home for me to use. This is probably the best way of test-driving; use the tractor under the circumstances that it would be used if you bought it.

Tiller's have very low HP requirements. I have an AgriFab 60" tiller that I use behind a Deere 4200. If I choose, I can use it at slighter above an idle, even in sob. I do this sometimes so as not to turn the ground into dust, thus preventing packing and hard ground. So, don't worry about a tiller requiring a lot of HP. Chris
