 2 Bottom Plow

I am interested in putting a 2 bottom plow on my TC29D, I was wondering if anyone out there has some previous experience with a 2 bottom plow on this size tractor. Is the plow to much for the hydro etc? My local dealer says it will do it no problem. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about hurting the hydro, but depending on the type of soil, moisture content, size of plow shares, depth you try to plow, etc., your tractor may (or may not) be able to pull it without just spinning your wheels. Of course, your local dealer may be familiar with the terrain and know that it will work.

I definitely wouldn't worry much about whether your TC will handle a two bottom, if you've got a decent set of weighted ag tires on it for traction. Turf tires might give you a lot of slippage.

I've been running a TC29 for three years now. Bought it for handling the work around the horse barn, but it's worked out to be my main farm tractor. Does the haying on 100 acres of darn hilly ground with a PTO baler, and I pull an Aerway 9 foot harrow with it no problem. My IH manure spreader is ground-driven, and was built for a bigger tractor - 50 horse recommended - but the Boomer never misses a beat with it.

Pretty strong machine, in my opinion. In the three years of hard work I've given it, the biggest repair was a broken bolt on the loader control.

 2 Bottom Plow

Keith;
I have an old Deere 2 bottom plow. I have not tried it on the JD 955 I have but did on the 750. The 750 would not handle the plow and I had to take off one blade. Even then the main problem was the ability to lift high enough to keep it put of the ground.
As most of the older plows are designed for a bigger framed tractors they are difficult to handle on a small machine.

a 2-14 or 2-12 might work, but 16" moldboards would be too much.

Minimum of tc35 for 2-16 plow

Well I got the 2 bottom plow but it didnt work to well. I think it might have worked better with ag. tires the r-4s seemed to load up with mud and I lost all traction. Maybe if I remove one plow and use it as a 1 bottom it will work better.

Dont plow in the mud, you will get less traction (you know that) and you got more friction against the boards.

Also you might want to wear off any paint thats on the face of the boards. Once the faces are shiny and you park the plow, put a coat of grease on it.

And also play with shortening on sway link or the other to take less of a bite. dont give up.
