 4 wheel drive operation

I have a TC33D with Industrial tires and am not so sure the 4 wheel drive and Hydro is working properly.

In normal first range, in snow, if I pull a heavy load one rear and one front will spin.
If I engage the "lock" lever, it makes no difference.

If I engage the differential lock, then both rears will spin but still only one front. Thanks

Should both fronts and rears lock up when the lever is pushed to the lock position??

In second range, even in snow at 2000 rpm's it will not spin a tire or cause little if any lug down on the engine.

I have contacted the dealer who is sending a mechanic out to check it but am curious if anyone out there can tell me how their tractors operate. Thanks

It sounds like your tractor is working as it should. In 4WD both axles are turning as they should (albeit spinning one wheel, as will happen sometimes). When you lock in your differential on the rear it eliminates one rear wheel spinning while the other sits. Then you have three wheels spinning while one on the front axle sits. Your differential lock only works on the rear differential, which is why you then have three wheels pulling (two rear and a front). It sounds like maybe the problem is that the 4WD lock in isn't releasing if you see no difference with it locked in or not. You should not experience either front wheel turning in 2WD with one rear wheel spinning. I hope this helps.

Bingo, do you have supersteer? If so, even with the 4WD lever in the "disengaged" position, the front wheels will still kick in when the back ones spin. This is NH's "sensitrak" feature. The lever switches between full- time 4WD and part-time 4WD. There is a separate lever/handle that will completely disengage the front axle, making the tractor truly 2WD.
