Looking at new NH #1720 shuttle shift 27 hp live pto fwd ag tires w/7308 loader 60" hd material bucket. My question is how does this tractor compare to other brands in this hp & price range? The Kubota L2900 w/la480 loader looks like a nice tractor but have heard stay away from kubota due to parts price & availability & ease of servicability. What does jd have to offer at this level? I was given a price in MI. of $17193.74 for the NH 1720 W/items listed above +loaded tires & droped off at my house thats with 6% sales tax. thanks for any information on this subject. Matt

I think a John Deere 4300 is similar in size.I also live in Michigan and bought a tractor in Janurary. I found that the Boomerswere much more expensive Than the Deeres, but I was looking at the lower end ofthe series. I ended up buying a Deere 4100.

Not true about kubota parts and availabilty. I have owned two and I have found thatis just a rumor. They make an excellent tractor. Check out kubotasource.com andyou'll see why. The price on a kubota is generally lower than that of a comparable JD.

If you are thinking about NH, DON'T consider anything but the new TC models. I hada 1725. The engine was bad, and ultimately NH had to replace the tractor with aTC29. The engines in the TC models have been redesigned to correct a lot of problems.

HI MATT, THREE YEARS AGO I BOUGHT A FNH 1920 WITH A SIX FOOT TWO STAGE SNOWBLOWER, BLADE, HEATED CAB W/EXTRAS AND A HYDRAULIC LOG SPLITTER FOR AROUND 30K. I LOOKED AT ALL MY OTHER OPTIONS DEERE, KUBOTA ET.AL. AND DECIDED THAT THE FNH WAS A MUCH BETTER ENGINEERED MACHINE. MORE HORSE, MORE CYLINDERS, LOWER RPM TO PRODUCE SIMILAR POWER. 32 HORSE I THINK. AT ANY RATE, PARTS ETC. PLUS NOT HAVING TO WORK AS HARD TO GET THE SAME RESULT INDICATED TO ME THAT THE FNH WOULD BE MORE RELIABLE WITH LESS BREAKDOWNS. AT THE TIME I BOUGHT IT I WAS LIVING AT THE END OF A FOUR MILE FIRE TRAIL IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA. THE FIRST YEAR WE HAD A TWO FOOT SNOWFALL IN A 24 HR PERIOD. THE TRACTOR PERFORMED ADMIRABLY, SHOOTING THAT TWO FEET OF SNOW 35 FEET TO THE SIDE OF THE LANE EFFORTLESSLY. I DEFINITLY RECOMMEND THE FORD.BY THE WAY, MINE IS FOR SALE. I'VE MOVED AND DON'T NEED IT. HATE TO PART WITH IT CAUSE I LOVE IT BUT...
