Power Steering Fluid leak (Bad One)

I have a New Holland TC33. Just below the power steering pump is a steel tube with a compression nut that attaches it to the bottom of the pump. The steering became very tight (something that I experience on & off with this tractor) then all of a sudden no steering at all. My question is why the leak. The tube demonstrats no cracks or brakes in the flair. The compression nut was tight. Before removing the tube there was no play, it was tight. I refilled the fluid the leak was between the compression nut and tube. Any thoughts?

Sound like a bit over over expansion due to dramatic and fast pressure increase. The 33 has a problem with the steering getting tight when the loader is used do to the weight on the axle. That is why we alway recommend 3pt ballast to take some of the weight off the front axle.

ONEACE: Isn't there a relief valve or something in the circuit? I have on a few occasions when getting my 33D really stuck that I couldn't turn the steering wheel.

On my older mid size backhoe/loader with a Danfoss steering valve found that too high an input pressure without running a refief valve will do two things: makes the steering wheel impossible to turn, and cause the engine to stall when turned all the way to one side or the other. I have been told that I have worn out the sleeve seal in ubnit also due to this improper set up. Any thoughts?

BTW, my dealer tells me they sold my bucket to my new LS185.b to someone else who needed it (well isn't THAT nice). And they haven't been able to get a firm ship date from the factory---supposedly it was built June 15 but so far it's a no-show. If my dealer contacts NH, are they apt to just make stuff up information-wise, or do they really know and can tell us what is going on? (Do you have any inside knowledge???) Seems like a pretty sloppy operation if they are backlogged/out-of-sorts on their buld vs. ship data.

Two weeks for shipping is not unusual for an LTL. There aretimes they are quite fast and you might see it in three days! I still always tell customers two weeks and from time to time that is not enough.

Art is right. It is all on the freight carriers on how long it will take to get it.
