Paid $16,800 for TC33D with SS and 60" belly mower. Thought that was pretty good. Now I want to insure it - mowing some hilly ground. My homeowner's covers theft, but not rollover. Allstate wants $300/year - on a car policy. Advice, please!ThanksKarl

When i purchased my 29d 3 weeks ago my ins. company covered it under my homeowners with no stipulation about rollover. It's not a car so I dont know where they are getting 300 a year for coverage, I use state farm ins., hope this helps.

Usually when line between large expensive toys and commercial equip. gets fuzzy so does the insurance policy. Each carrier is different and sometimes it is the agent's discretion as to how big the umbrella of coverage is on you existing policy. Carriers will ask why do you have such a big piece of equip. to mow a lawn? It's sometimes hard to explain. Anyhow, just call your agent and tell him the truth and he should have a good answer. A rider to your homeowners is prob. best. I got a seperate commercial loss policy for $240.00 Rick

I took out a rider that fits in with my exhisting Company Commercial Liability policy. It covers my tractor for fire, theft, accident etc etc. Whether it be in my yard, while traveling over the road or while in use on somebody elses property, in case I fall into there septic tank or back into ther house or car or Whatever ! the rider alone is about $300 per year. Well worth the money if your going to be using your tractor for commercial use. All it takes is one little mishap and that $300 will look like small change. Mark

When I bought my tractor I got insurance directly from Kubota. They just added about $400 or so grand total for the whole 5 years of the note. It covers everything, including falling off the trailer on the highway.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with State Farm. When I approached State Farm about insurance on a new 855 they told me they would cover it under a homeowners policy if I only used the tractor to maintain my property. They told me I would have no coverage if the tractor left my property so no coverage while trailering. They would sell me a policy that treated the tractor just like a car. I believe it was nearly $600 for tractor and attachments with a $250 deductable. I shopped elsewhere and found a local Minnesota company that insures farms and they wrote a farm policy that covers the tractor and all attachments for about $100 a year over the wind, fire, liability etc. policy. It includes coverage if the tractor is trailered or down to the neighbors for coffee.

Thanks for the followups. Went back to the dealer for a source, found out that
New Holland will insure me, on and off the property, theft and rollover - for $90 per year.
