 NH TC45 Price

I have never bought a tractor before, but farmed some during my younger years. I have recently beeen looking at JD, NH, Massey, and Case tractors. I got a price on a NHTC45 with 16LA loader for 20,300. Is this a good deal??? Also, I have 30 acres (15 field) and would like to do some farming as a hobby. Is this tractor too big for me?

 NH TC45 Price

$20,550 was best deal I found for same setup. High was $21,700. Sounds pretty good to me.

 NH TC45 Price

I'm after a TC45 also, and have received a couple of quotes. You left off information concerning options. Do your quotes include deluxe 3pt hitch? Heavy duty bucket vs. standard bucket? Foldable ROPS? Engine block heater? 14.9 x 24 Ag tires or other tires? How many extra rear remotes for implements? These options add some to the price but are a mistake to overlook in a new tractor purchase. The TC45 I have quoted (with 12x12 tranny) with all of these options varies greatly by the month (I am not buying until after January 2001). In September, it was $23,250. In November, $25,500. Both of these quotes are from the same dealer, with no attempts on my behalf to lower price yet (but I will not pay $25,500 for a compact). Your prices sound pretty good, about what I would be willing to pay for a properly-optioned compact tractor. I'd like to know what other TC45 owners ended up paying for their units, don't hear much from them on this tractor board. P.S.--you are not buying too much tractor for 15 farmable acres with 30 acres maintenance. Also, I originally wanted a JD 4700, but 4 things turned me off: 1) very poorly designed (weak) fender, which you can shake with you hand, which leads to 2) a poorly located loader joystick which apparently they couldn't mount on the weak fender. The joystick rides right up tight against my thigh when sitting on the tractor, and I do not have large thighs. This is a design mistake and a no-no, can't believe JD would let this one by their quality control; 3) lots of bad posts about tire scuffing with the 4x4 front axle, another design/quality control problem, and 4) price too high for the design mistakes you are purchasing. It bothered me enough that I went down the road and sat on a TC45, and the JD 4700 was history. It would take a new "4000-Ten" series, with all of the above JD mistakes fixed, to get me back to the JD compacts.

Bob,
Thanks for your input. After I talked to the salesman, I knew I forgot to ask him about those things. So i will call and find out and let you know. Any thoughts of going with a TN55? I started pricing those units, but are a little too costly for me. Do you know of any other tractor boards? I recenly received anohter price for a TC45: 12x12 sync, R4 tires, foldable rops, delx. 3pt hitch, 16 LA w/ 72" bucket (not sure if it is hd) for $22,100. I got a price for the TN55 ($23,950.00 CASH)with basically the same set-up; 32LA loader w/ 72" bucket, ag tires, 16.9 gpm pump.

OldForge, I forgot to mention 4x4 on the quotes, I assumed your quotes for the TC45 included 4x4 as mine did. I looked at the TN55, but turbocharged TN70s are infinitely more popular in my area and are the same physical size as the TN55. The TN55 4x4 is a lot more farming tractor than the TC45 because of the extra 1500 pounds weight and higher 3pt hitch capacity, but provides little more PTO horsepower over the TC45. If you don't need more PTO horsepower than the TC45 (ie for large tractor-wide rototillers or huge mowers) but do need more pulling power, no doubt the TN55 will serve you better than the TC45. The TN70 however, will do it all (higher pulling power and PTO horsepower vs. both TN55 or TC45) for the small farm, even if you're at moderate to high elevations. For me, I'm leaning towards the TC45 for majority work (light discing, drilling, harrowing, spraying, mowing, medium tiller work, loader work etc.), and custom hiring the heavy jobs such as plowing/offset discing/chisel plowing heavy crop residues, which occurs infrequently. (see my thread on this board under the "Implements" section, titled "Heaviest 6-foot disc top-end compacts can pull?". Only you can decide if the extra size and cost of the TNs are worth passing by the TC45 for what you want to do. If I were to go the TN route, no doubt I would go for the TN70 or at the least the TN65 to avoid the embarrassment of "big tractor" with "little PTO".

I priced out a TC45D w/loader and it came up to: $19985.00 Thats with the new loader design that curves with the tractors hood. Not the more squared look. Not too many dealers let these go at this price. You got a very good price if you live near a major city in my opinion.

Daren,
That is really a great price! That is for the 'D' series, right? Other than the standard features for the 'D' series what exactly did your quote include? i.e. 4wd, type of tires, loaded tires, high-low loader joystick, type of loader (16LA), etc. Also could you provide me with a contact and location of the dealer. Your help would be greatly appreciated. take care.
