 4400 vs. TC33D

New to tractors never owned one - have been borrowing friend's 4400 4wd with sync shift for work at house site, hate to keep borrowing, but it's amazing how much work can be accomplished. At house site, I have 3 wooded acres on lake. Need tractor for some lite clearing + moving rock to seawall + putting up fence + moving multch, gravel and for generally helping to build house. Lot has some is somewhat steep grade. Idea is to buy tractor and use for a year+ while building home then decide if should keep. Want to make sure what I buy has low center of gravity for work on grade (JD vs NH?). Hard to find good used tractor? Suggestions? Plan on post hole and box scrape later or borrow friends. If I purchased new, what would be projected loss after 1 to 2 years putting about 200 hours on tractor with tractor garaged unless in use? given following prices for JD4400 or TC33D w/supersteer with 60" HD loader & forks (Woods bucket & forks) Price on JD with sync reverse 4wd indust. tires ($19500). Price on TC33D 4wd with same indust. tires loader & forks $18755. Can I get a lower price, been checking need suggestions and pricing info. Both can be serviced locally, willing to travel to pick up in TN, NC, SC. Thanks

Have you checked out the Kubota line? I looked at JD, New Holland and Kubota, in the next size up from what you are seeking, (JD4500, K L3710, and NH1920). The boomers are out of their league when compared to the ~40hp. I really wanted the hydro transmission and could not justify going up to the jd 4600. If you are doing lots of loader work think about hst. No complaints on the kubota, my price for L3710 w/R4's, 72" hd loader and foldable ROPS was 19,200. The JD's were not in stock, K's were. Either way you cannot go wrong. Drive'm all and go with the dealer you feel comfortable with.

Get a JD w/PowerReverser Transmission..no clutching, and more power than the hydro..Kubota hydro was tough to operate smoothly over bumpy ground. I tried them both, and for me the PowerReverser was far superior, expecially for delicate loader placement. The price I was quoted to clear my lot, dig a foundation, dig a leach field and cut a driveway was over half the cost of my rig..JD4600 w/loader/48 hoe. I will probably sell it when everything is done and step up to a 5000 series Utility tractor w/o a hoe for about what I will sell my current tractor for. Have fun shopping around, you probably can't go wrong with any of these compacts..
