What would be the best choice?

We have been shopping for a new tractor to replace our aging JD318. We have looked at JD, MF & Kubota and all seem to have fine products. The MF 1225 looks like one of our better choices but I have not been able to find much information on the tractor. We have aprox 2 acres to mow and a gravel driveway to maintain. I know that this size tractor may be a bit large for our immeadiate needs but I am looking into the future. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, Dave

What would be the best choice?

Dave,We also have 2 acres of yard. When our 12hp AC was showing signs of wear, we started our search. Looked at a Honda 6522, JD 4100, MF 1225, Kubota B2100,B2400. Would have looked at NH, but dealer location wasn't convenient, and held an attitude All units had good and not so good point, of which became a little confusing. So we made a list of what we needed the unit to do, what we would like the unit to do, and what we MAY do in the future. Next we listed what we liked/Disliked about each unit and put the winner of each category into each individual requirement. Amazing how this quickly eliminated a few contenders. The choice became clear, and best of all it was made based upon function, not color or bias. In our case, we ended up with the tractor that seemed least likely to win, and quickly eliminated the one thought to be a sure winner. Proving that other people's opinions aren't always the best investment. Making a list might seem a little corny, but we don't just have $15 grand sitting around, therefore I wanted to be sure I spent Our money wisely. That list is what put things in perspective, and kept the bells & whistles as only a bonus, not a deciding factor. Oh, to answer your question, we have 0 regrets about our choice on a JD4100.

What would be the best choice?

Dave, just recieved my mf 1225 5ft finish mower,(50' tiller and 5ft blade comeing soon) I also have a small yard and it takes a lot less time to cut hydro on unit is nice forward and reverse very easy with it looked at jd and cub found MF a solid unit with all metal. engine is 23 hp 19 hp pto. I started looking at jd4100 and MF 1215 dealer had 1225 in stock said with tiller i would want more horse than 15 pto. Its a dream might look funny on small yard but when the snow flies it will look just a bit smaller. whole package 1225/mower/blade/tiller 16k. but pick a dealer close who has been around, if you need something it will not take a day or longer to get it. central pa

Thanks for the information. We are leaning toward the MF1235. It seems to have the best balance for price, service and durability. I will post more feedback when we receive our new unit.
