To be sure: the lift will raise at any time the tractor is idling but not at higher RPMs, correct?

It also will raise when you first crank up the tractor when it has not been used long enough it has cooled off, correct?

One other question, how many hours on this tractor and did it begin all at once or got worse over time?

If it raised only when you first crank the tractor and as you use it it gets weaker, check your oil for water. If there is water in it find the source of the water fix it, drain the oil and change any filters.

yes mr thompson it raises at an idle but drops as soon as i raise the rpms, this started suddenly, but the more adjustment i tried to make it seemed seemed the worse it got.
the tractor has 2400 hours mostly running a auger.

Sure wish I could tell you what the problem is and doubt my question here is it but still asking, does the tractor have draft control on it and by chance has it gotten engaged rather than the position control?

Hi .
Drain the transmission oil from BOTH drain plugs one below the clutch pedal and the other to the rear left hand side about where your heel would be when sitting on the tractor it takes six gallons, remove the plate on the bottom of the gearbox the one with three bolts holding it on ,pull the little safety clip of the rod and undo the nut that holds the filter on remove the filter and thouroughly clean in petrol make sure the thick o ring is in position before you fit the filter.
Happy days
Regards
Hutch

I'm still unclear as to the problem. You say the lower arms drop when the engine RPMs increase. Do you want them to stay up? or are you just wondering why they go down by themselves? Is it a problem of using the lift lever to raise something up, only to have it lower by itself? Or does it just raise when cold, then lower as it warms up - without ever touching the lift lever?

If the latter, I'd say we're dealing with thick fluid. Thick enough when cold to lift the arms due to parasitic pressure, but - once warm and thin - permits gravity to pull the arms back down on their own.
