Adapting an old ferguson tool for an MF135

Recently I bought a Ferguson finger bar grass cutter - probably about 55 years old and originally meant to fit onto the early postwar machines. The PTO interface is a bolt tightened collar (to fit the PTO shaft) which is integral with a universal joint. The problem starts with the fact that the older tractors had much more slender PTO shafts than the later 135s etc.. My initial solution was to seek a large female small male adapter to sit between - this is the best part of six inches of wasted space which seems to make it impossible to hitch things up properly. Accordingly I'd like to find someone who makes or sells an MF135 compatible pto shaft collar closely coupled with a UJ. Anyone heard of one?
Regards
mike

I'm not sure if you're asking for an adapter? If you ae TSC has them, perhaps.

If you PTO shaft is too long (I gather?) I have had good results cutting them down and rewelding them. You might even be able to cut the female tube first then the male for a good fitment.

I think I understand what your saying, and the short answer, as the old saying goes, is "You can't get there from here.".

You can get a sleeve that will step up the size from the smaller up to the bigger, but in order to reduce you need the 6"ish long adapter you seem to already have.

If that is the case all you can do is get a collar made to take up the extra space.

Usually people just hunt around for the right implement, that was the primary reason for going to a unified (more or less) 3pth setup.

Best of luck.
