 Clutch Question Massey 4253

We bought a used 2001 Massey 4253 last year it is a cab 90 h.p 4x4 unit. It had a 1000 hours on it and the clutch slipped in high gear up hills. Anyway the dealer put a new clutch in before we bought it (we saw them do it). Well it is out agian??? We are NOT hard on equipment, I have a massey 165 the clutch last 2000 hours last time and it has 8000 on the clock now and runs fine. We put 400 hours on this machine about half used the pto bailing hay, and the clutch is slipping again.

This can not be right? What can we look for to see why this went out so fast. How long should it last.

Thank you very much.
Paul

 Clutch Question Massey 4253

I think 2000 hours is reasonable if you are not hard on the clutch. I have 100000 on the truck with out a problem. I have not replace the one on the MF65.
Did the dealer replace the clutch plate with a factory spec or just replace the pads (relined), use a remanufactured clutch? I had some brake pads religned in Evansville IN and it was a waste of time. I think some of the pad lining is not to factory specifications.

 Clutch Question Massey 4253

I wonder what the condition of the fly wheel was like. Something must be amiss to go through 2 clutches in 1400 hrs. Are you at the limits of its adjustment? Is it possible that the mechanism is not right?

 Clutch Question Massey 4253

I really do not know? this clutch has no adjustment according to Agco and Massey? It says in the manual no adjustment necessary, but there is a pedal adjustment and it is all the way?
Yea this is not right, I want to make sure we fix it right this time.

 Clutch Question Massey 4253

Is the unit hydraulic? As you know the MF65 and MF165 have the adjustment screw. It would make you wonder if the throw out bearing or some other shim are incorrect. I certainly would want to look at the clutch once it was apart.

 Clutch Question Massey 4253

I do not think it is hydraulic, it is manual linkage into the clutch.
