 Weather Brake for Kubota L3830

I am looking for some type of a weather brake for my Kubota L3830 with a factory loader. I didn't want a factory cab when I bought the tractor but I would like to find some type of protection when I am moving snow in the north country. I want a weather brake that would fit neatly around the factory joy stick and the engine compartment and have side entry. Any ideas?

Curtis Cabs makes a variety of options incl. full glass enclosed hard cabs, soft-sided cabs, canopies, & simple sun shades. There are other companies out there with similar products too. Get ready to spend some bucks though. I know hind sight is 20/20, but a factory cab is almost always the best choice.

I know the Curtis Cab is one of the nicest units around but couldn't justify the cost.

I settled for a 3 sided wind breaker or "Heater Cab" as TSC calls it. It (02-98962)is currently $165.99. It is made from thin vinyl and is universal (ie. designed to fit nothing). It took a little assembly time and I needed to fabricate a few brackets. I've been careful in use and storage during the summer months and am starting my 4th year with it. See my pic's. #2 & 3.

My properties are about a mile apart in open farming country. The wind blows really hard. Before that, my face just about froze. This kind of cab is all that was available up until the 1960's.

If you can justify the Curtis definitely go for it, if not consider this!

Where did you get that "heater cab" do you have a link or is it from your local dealer? That's all a "tough guy" like me would need! I don't mind the cold as long as I'm out of the wind.

I agree with Yooperpete. My 1946 Farmall M has a canvas Heat Houser. It was made in NE in the early 1950s and still works OK, some patches at the canvas shop after hitting stuff....The small windsheild can be removed for "in-your-face" tractor operation! I ran google for it but only found a similar rig at: http://www.beavervalleysupply.com/sectionh/regal.htm
The engine heat is more than enough to keep you warm. Drawback, of course, is not having overhead cover, but it may work with standard shade tops on the ROPS.

I got mine from Tractor Supply Company(TSC). Their website is MYTSCSTORE.com. They don't have any stores in Conn. but have 23 in New York state. Not all stores have them, but think you can order or even drop ship them. It comes in a nice little box that UPS can deliver. I just cut a slit in the vinyl for the joystick and made a few brackets to hold it up. Like I said it ain't fancy but does the job.
