 Winterizing my Kubota

I have an L2500 that I purchased this spring. I am looking for suggestions on what should be done for storing it over winter in SE Ohio. It won't be run November-April or so. Read alot about the fuel, although I'm not sure if I have #1 or #2 in it. The gas station I purchased it from had no clue (I'll check the pump next time I'm there). Have about 3/4 tank full at this point and I don't use all that much. It will be stored in an unheated barn over winter.

How much fuel should I leave in the tank?
Do I need to put a fuel additive in the tank?
Should I wait on an oil change till spring or do it now?
Do I need to do anything with the anti-freeze/radiator?
How about the battery - just disconnect and recharge in spring?
Should I grease it up now or wait till spring?
Anything else I should be looking at?

You won't see #1 fuel at the pumps until it get real cold. If you bought the fuel in warmer weather it would be #2. You can winterize the fuel in the tank with any good diesel fuel treatment. Look for one that kills bacteria and controls wax formation. Filling the tank would prevent condensation over the winter.

Old engine oil contains suspended contaminants including water which can form acids..... it is always better to store an engine with fresh oil in the sump.

I would take the battery out and keep it on a trickle charger to prevent it discharging and freezing.

You can get an antifreeze tester from any auto parts store. If the fluid tests ok you can let it sit. If not, drain and refill with fluid rated for diesel engines.

Greasing: probably your option as to when to do it, as long as the tractor has not been operated in extremely wet conditions.

I would also air-up the tires. That would minimize the tendency to form flat spots in the tread and save your back from 10 minutes of thumping next year.

You also need to block the clutch open. Keep the clutch dis-engaged during storrage to avoid a stuck clutch next spring.
