 FEL for BX2230

I am in the final stages of my decision making between the BX2230 and the JD2210. The Kubota dealer did not have a BX2230 with the FEL and was explaining how to attach and detach it and boy, either he did not do a good job explaining or it sounds like it's not real quick and easy. Is the FEL a quick and easy disconnect? How about attaching the mower deck and front mount snow blower?

I definitely liked the feel of the Kubota over the JD and for a couple k less...... the green goggles are slowly turning to orange Smile

 FEL for BX2230

Check out my website for pics of my 2230. FEL, deck, bagger all detailed.

FEL is a 5 minute operation at most. Mower deck is 3 minute. Front blower is easy onced the mount is on. Mount is 15 minute, blower is 2 minute.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

1*There is no decision to make the Kubota wins it hands down over the J D.
2*Yes - That dealer done a poor job explaining it to you.
3*You don't need the blower with the FEL.

The time it takes to install/remove the loader on a 2210 is about 5-minutes. It’s as simple as, pulling (2) spring loaded pins, raising the arms (which actually lifts the assembly off the tractor, and swings the “stand” into position), backing out from under, and disconnecting hydraulic lines. It’s very clever the way Deere designed the integral stand, and the way it operates, and it probably saves some time over the BX.

On the BX-series, I believe there are is a “stand” under each individual arm that you have to rotate into position. To me it always looked like more of an after thought, than an integrated design.

The installation/removal of the MMM on the 2210 is also about a 5-minute operation. Roll it under, lower the 3ph, pop in (2) spring-loaded pins, connect the pto shaft, attach the front arm, raise the deck, rotate the (4) rollers.

I don’t know about a blower, never looked into it. However, I would disagree with the comment that “You don't need the blower with the FEL”. A blower would be much more efficient at clearing snow, than the FEL.

Sorry, I wasn't descriptive enough on the processes.

1.) FEL - 2 stands on the loader arms are as easy as JD, Pull two pins, rotate loader out of mounts with control, disconnect hyd lines, back out. 3-5 minutes max.
2.) Deck - lift deck full up, rotate scalp wheels sideways, set deck down on wheels, disconnect front bracket lever, driveshaft and 2 side pins, lift arms out of the way, pull deck out. 3-5 minutes max.
3.) Blower - Attach mount and jack shaft. 5-7 Minutes.
Drive up to and attach blower and driveshaft. 3-5 Minutes. Total: 10-12 minutes.

For a BX, the snowblower has it all over the FEL. (my opinion)

In general, both of these machines are designed to make installation and removal of attachments, as quick and simple as possible. When you think about it, the amount of time (3 to 5 minutes) is really negligible, in the scheme of things. What’s a minute here or there, as long as you do it correctly and safely.

In my opinion, I believe it more important to compare things like: Which dealer you are more comfortable with? Or, Which tractor’s controls you like better? (i.e. ergonomics), Or, even price? Etc.

When I compared both of these, I was all ready to buy orange (and still would). But, what switched me to green, was (1) the difference in attitude and helpfulness of the dealers, (2) Deere’s “twin touch” pedal, and (3) the SCV and joy-stick placement.

Happy shopping Smile

Scooter: I couldn't agree with you more. It's all about the local dealer and you relationship with them. Which in my case, was the main reason why I bought Kubota.

I have had Green and switched to Orange. The are clearly both good. I think Kubota has the edge. I have a 1976 Kubota L175 that I simply KILL and have no respect for and the harder I run it the better it runs. I also have a bx2200 that I do the same with. Check the specs, do your homework and decide exactly what you are looking to do with the machine. Things like lift height of the FEL and lift capacity are important to look at.

Both machines are great. I think price and the dealer are your 2 biggest factors. Good luck!
