 hydo fluid

Just received a new kubota g2160 garden tractor. After about four hours of use I noticed a squealing/squeking noise come from the back axel area. I checked the hydo fluid to find THERE WAS NONE bone dry. Its now parked and I'm waiting for the dealer to open up on Mon. My question is this tractor damaged or should I demand a new replacement? Or will just adding fluid be enough.

Sounds like the dealer didn't prep it right. I'd demand a new machine.

Absolutely. A new machine. There is untold damage in that transmission.

Demand a new machine! Leting the machine go out the door to you with no oil in the trans. is totally unacceptable and shows a poor emphasis on detail by the dealer unless there is evidence of leakage or damage that caused a leak. When you get the new machine; check EVERY last nut and bolt as well as fluid level. Totally go over the machine. Be pleasant but FIRM in you resolve for the new machine.

You must get a new machine. The gears and bearings are almost certainly ruined. Don't be afraid to threaten the dealer with a law suit if he is resistant to the idea of replacement (but also don't jump off the deep end first). And, don't be afraid to follow through if need be.

Please let us know how this is resolved. I, for one, am curious.

re: "HYRDO" fluid. BTW for some reason I had to change my user id The dealer has been responsive and said hes talking it over with thier tech/mechanics re the level of damage?. He mentioned something about overnighting the fluid to me but
I believe I will not tamper with the evidence. I will not accept their offer of "just add the fluid now" that obviously works better for them. However do you all know with 100% certainty that this unit is damaged? I assume the squealing axle isnt good. Not that I need any leverage but objective opinions from other "experts" helps.

That doesn't sound very responsive to me, it sounds like a runaround in the making. A responsive dealer should say something like, "We're VERY sorry, to set your mind at ease we will exchange it for a brand new machine ASAP." If they come back and say there is no damage you will always feel uneasy about it. Let the dealer take it back and tear it down, inspect and/or repair it and sell it as a demo unit with full warranty to somebody else. If they won't do this you might send off a letter to Kubota and ask for intervention. Your peace of mind should be a big factor in this, and if the dealer doesn't tear it down to inspect it there is no way they can say there isn't any damage.
