 7510 throttle speed/RPM

I just picked up my new 7510 on friday and was bush hogging over the weekend. On Sunday, I noticed that even though I had the throttle all the way up, the RPM's on the tractor were not quite at where they should be to mow (it was at 2500 RPM rather than 2700 RPM). Do you guys think I need an adjustment? If so, should the adjustment be with the linkage or the throttle screw itself? When I move the throttle linkage while the tractor is off, it is touching both the bottom end screw and top end screw.

I would.n't do anything until after your 50 service. Running the tractor at full throttle for extended periods during the 50 hr break-in period isn't recomended. I ran my tractor at 2100 rpm max during the break-in even when mowing. I just went a little slower and mowed in low range. She cut fine and gave the tractor the chance it needed to get the break-in done. It may be a blessing that you cant get up to full rpm's. Run it a little easy for the first 50 hours, then adjust the throttle if necessary. You don't need full throttle to do much of anything.

Check your owners manual. Recommendations for the break-in are explained in the manual.

Good luck.

It would be understandable for the RPM to be a little lower than max with the PTO engaged. It takes a good deal of power to swing the blades on a bush-hog.

There is a max no-load rpm adjustment on many tractors. Max loaded rpm usually is a bit lower due to the way governors work. If the max rpm is adjustable, an owner's manual should describe procedures. The rpm drop between no-load and max fuel delivery is governor controlled. Many are adjustable but not by typical owners and the 'droop' as it's called is rarely a problem. As mentioned, there's a chance the adjustment is set a bit low during the break in period. A dealer could say if it's desirable to adjust it.

Excessive loads also would prevent the engine from coming up to pto rpm. If that's what is happening it's called 'lugging the engine.' Lugging a diesel is not good--especially during break in. You might check that the rpm is low during fairly light loads as well as heavy loads.

A tractor running a bush hog should still be able to max it's RPMs. If it can't then it needs to be worked on.
