Is there a significant difference between Kubota UDT hydraulic fluid and say Quatro Spec-1 Super Premium Hydraulic fluid or other high grade hydraulic fluids?

I suppose then, without understanding what the difference is and what the results of using a different oil, I should use the Kubota UDT exclusively?

Could I have a very short answer to what the real differences are and how the performance of the tractor will be impacted?

The types and concentrations of additives is the difference.

If you use fluid with an incompatible additive it could cause problems such as seals degrading, excessive foaming or other assorted problems.

Even if there was a huge difference in price the few times you will need to buy any will make it all sort of moot.

Best of luck.

Larry, I agree with Murf. No more than you'll use, why not use your tractor's brand.

On a side note. They're Kubota dealers that use the JD fluid! But... I'd do my best to use the brand made especially for your tractor.

Larry; looks like you're going to get a majority vote here. The proper fluid and correct filters are free compard to parts abd labor. Wet brake chatter is another issue caused by using a one size fits all fluid. Frank.

If your tractor is under warranty, stick to the manufacturer's recommended fluids. No reason to cause a warranty problem.
Super UDT is recommended for my 7800. I don't have a problem paying a couple extra bucks for the Super UDT. I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that Super UDT is partially synthetic, and better for all temperature applications.
