I am trying to decide whether to order the direct pin-on bucket or go with a skid-steerer style quick coupler and bucket for my new machine (L3130). Which is more flexible for adding on other "things" to the FEL (LA723)? Any other positives or negatives about either style?

domogala, you will have the same system as I do (L3130 with 723 FEL) I can definately recommend the quick attach. There are plenty of attachments made out there for skid steers (grapples, forks, splitters etc) so you're not locked into those made exactly for your pin system. They are simple and stay tight.

Domogala, I have both styles in the fleet.

If you look at my pic. # 18 you will see an attachment I made recently for my personal machine at home. It uses the pin-style coupler.

There are much more choices for SSL (skid steer loader) style quick-tatch attachments, they are also a lot more expensive, especially if you want to make them yourself or have them made for you.

IMHO, if it is just for homeowner use, go with the pin-style of Kubota's, it will do everything you want, and it's cheap.

Best of luck.

if you get the skid steer plate, you can just go down to the rental shop and rent your self a set of forks for $25 a day when you need them, or what ever other non-powered attachment you need.
