Ready to buy air cond tractor

Checked with a Kubota dealer & found trator like I was looking for. The model is L3430 with ac cab. Has 34 hp, which is all I need. Now have JD4100 (with 20hp), which I love, except has no ac. Smallest tractor JD has with ac cab is a 53hp, and costs about $5,000 more, and will be more expensive to operate. Any reason I should look further. Don't want to underbuy or overbuy.

Air conditioning, hydro transmission with a good stereo and a full cup holder and away we go!

I've really never sat in the cab of a small tractor, but I'm sure they have improved the cabs on small tractors just as the cabs on farm tractors have been improved drasticly over the past 30 yrs. Check the mounting of the cab, is it bolted diredtly to the frame without any rubber mounts that transmit sound, check the interior, are the sides, roof, glass, etc, curved or flat to reduce sound reflection. I know nothing about a Kubota cab, nor have I ever sat in a 5000 series Deere cab. So my thoughts are drive them both on a hot day under load to check out the AC and the decebel level. A poor cab is worse than no cab at all, so if you're going all the way the 5000. bucks is not that important if you're getting a better cab. Either tractor will retain it's value as both have excellent equipment. Just my thoughts, Frank.

gdillard, I had the same thought last year, except I had to get A/C for medical reasons.

The sound-proofing and visibilty are outstanding, the A/C & stereo are nice touch. I wouldn't go back to an open-station machine now for anything. I never realized what a joy it is working on a miserable rainy in a warm de-humidified cab with the stereo on and not a care in the world, ok, maybe one or two, but no rain drops down the back of my neck.

The HEPA air filter on the ventilation system is good too, dust barely stands a chance.

Best of luck.

Here is an out of the box idea.......

A Brisk Air, 7100 BTU, 9.1 amp/110 volt, RV roof air conditioner ($521) run by a 2000 watt Honda generator ($1000) mounted on the tractor frame.

It air conditioner would require a 14"x14" hole in the canopy and could be replaced by a standard roof vent in the off season.

Great idea, but how would one seal up the operator station to avoid all the dust, grass clippings, and insect attacks?
Found after market cab, but it costs close to $3,000 even without ac, and have been told by jd dealer it will not seal up like a factory cab and would not keep out dust, etc. Have chronic problems (just getting over sinus surgery), and don't want to spend 3 or 4 thousand dollars and still have most of the problems. Your idea is not that bad. I just have a bad problem that I have had for many years. Thanks!

I would have to check the specs, but if you could set the roof air so that it pulls fresh air (not re-circulating air), it should "pressurize" the cab and force cold air out any cracks or crevasses, thus preventing the intrusion of dust, pollen, etc.
