 L3130 hydraulic fluid change

I'm doing my own 50 hr maintenance on a L3130. The manual shows four drain plugs for draining the hydraulic fluid. I've can locate only three: one in the middle under the tractor and two more located adjacent to the rear wheels. Can someone enlighten me on the location of fourth one? I'll be darned if I can find it.

I also found only 3 transmission drain plugs on my L3130HST, 2 by the rear wheels and one where the mid-PTO mounts (no mid-PTO on mine).

The Operator's Manual shows some 'model specific' views, but I think they goofed on this one.

It took me forever to do my 50-hr service. Now that I have found most of the tools I need, the 200-hr was a lot faster!
Art White commented that doing your own maintenance is a good way to keep in touch with the condition of your machine, and a great learning experience. You might want to check the Tractor Engine Repair Rebuild Forum for more info.

Good Luck with your Kubota,

You are getting close enough as there are the two under the bull gears and then two under the center, one towards the front by the mid pto drop box and one towards the rear from there.

I have a L3130 HST without mid PTO so I'm assuming that their are only 3 drain plugs for the hydraulic fluid.

No it is not on the mid pto but right near it to the best of my reclection. If you have the one futher to the rear you are okay as far as what you have drained.

Found the FOURTH drain plug! It is just to the rear of the clutch drain, on centerline of tractor. A 10mm hex wrench fits fine. This is a flush plug so that's probably why we both missed it.

Just for kicks I drained a small amount of fluid out, but didn't see any contamination (not that I expected to)

Good Luck, and check out my fuzzy pics. ( Had a roll of great ones, but screwed up and lost all 24 shots)

Bliz, you picked up on my comment about doing your own service work and getting to know your own tractor. I do believe tht if you check underneath these tractors and look at the bolts and nuts as to where they are for tightness that when something does go wrong or you hear a strange noise you will be able to find it sooner.

Thanks again Art! Your post #66806 prompted me to take a third look. Snow showers in the forecast so I may get to use my snowblower sooner than I want to.

A little tip for checking for moisture, leave tractor stationary over nite and just crack the lowest drain plug to check for the water. You shouldn't have to worry about it for a while but it is something to check from year to year. In the fall is a good time to do it if it was one time in a year as this is the time that a tractor will get frozen up here in the northeast if left out.

I changed hydraulic oil a few weeks ago. The oil had been used three years but there still were some hours left before a scheduled change.

A few 'glugs' went into the drain that were likely water. Never enough to make the oil appear milky but maybe enough to have given me problems this winter. It's good to change it fairly regularly even if the proof meter doesn't call for it.
