 B7200 Hydraulic Problem

Hi All,

I have an older B7200 and this weekend while moving a good size rock, the hydraulics became slow and jumpy. By that I mean my loader would slowly move a very small amount, stop for a split second and then move a small amount again. It is happening both under a load and not. It is also happening in the rear on my weight bucket. The fluid level is fine and I do not seem to have any leaks (one house is damp, but it has been that way for a very long time). Could this be a pump problem?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Frank

Could be a pump problem but it might also be a clogged Hyd. filter. I would try replacing the filter first. What does the hyd. oil look like? Have you had any other attachments or impliments that hook into the hyd. system hooked up to it recently? Could have picked up contamination there.

I haven't had anything else hooked up to the tractor. I will try replacing the filter and go from there.

 B7200 Hydraulic Problem

If the tractor has a diverter valve, you could set it to the 'remote' position and then try the 3ph. A diverter would take the loader hydraulics out of the system and eliminate problems such as a bad pressure relief valve in the loader valve. On most setups, oil for the 3ph goes through the loader valve first so a problem there could affect 3ph operation.

The only other simple test that comes to mind is listening for an open pressure relief valve, which could indicate an obstructed high-pressure line. It'd be good if a new filter cured the problem and I imagine there'll be more later if it doesn't.

The only thing I'd keep in mind when thinking about the problem is that it seemed to come on quickly during a period of heavy operation rather than something that got worse over a longer period. Instantaneous suction line obstructions do happen (the filter being part of the suction line) but it's more common for filters to clog more slowly. Guess we'll hear back and then go from there if necessary.

 B7200 Hydraulic Problem

First I checked to see if the problem was systematic or just in the front. I was systematic, so I drained the transmission and cleaned the screen. The screen was seriously blocked up. I replaced the fluids and all is well.

Thanks so much for all of the advice!

Frank
