 Mowing with BX22

I'm in the process of purchasing a BX22 tractor see my earlier post). I've ordered with the 60" mid mower attachment but thinking I may have made a mistake. The main mowing I'll do will be once or twice a year on a 2 acre field that is mostly grass and wildflowers. Just like to knock it down a couple of times a year. Would a mower that attaches to the rear PTO make more sense? The main use of the tractor is for the FEL and backhoe so the mower will not be mounted very often. Thanks in advance for your thoughts?

Can't really give you pros/cons on the rear mount mower. All I've ever used are midmounts. I'm thinking about a midmount for my BX22 for similar reasons, occasional wacking of 1 acre field and some rear yard mowing, but they're pretty pricey so I haven't done it yet. Been looking for a used one. The midmount offers the obvious advantage of not having to remove the backhoe to use it.

Having a finish mower and a BushHog rotory cutter I can assure you that if you are only going to cut once or twice a year the finish mower is not the tool. If you are going to cut on that schedule then you would need to raise the mower and maybe make three passes to achieve the proper height. If the field is rough it is tough on the mower and it may not last long.
A rotory cutter is a lot less expensive, but you will need to go narrower.

Thanks for the replies. At this point, I'm leaning towards a Rhino SE5 rotary but since I still have about 2 weeks to go before the tractor is here, have some time to think/shop.

Peters thats a great call. Different areas do have different types of grasses and some might stll only get a foot tall during the summer. In that case a finish mower might get two jobs with a height adjustment in between.

Art;
I have fescue and Bahia in the field. Yes you can do just 2 cuts if you do not let the Bahai get too long. Some of the tough fescue patches may need four on my field. In the middle of the summer I have to hit the power with the rotory cutter to get through.
