 Ever Seen R4 for B7100

Has anyone ever seen an R4 tire or something between a Turf and Ag/R1 tire for a B7100HST?

 Ever Seen R4 for B7100

I have R4's on my '95 B7100HST. I think they are very evenly matched because i can easily roll the tractor by hand when the High-Low lever is in neutral but the 4 wheel drive lever is engaged. It will be a couple days before i am back at my storage compound, I will note the tire sizes and post the information.

 Ever Seen R4 for B7100

kWanner: That would be excellent information. I should make it clear that my B7100 is a '90 model with a 6-hole pattern on both the front and back rims. I can't see how the '95 version would have any difference... can anyone here correct me?
Along with the tire size, can you also supply the Brand and possibly a source that you used?
Thanks again,
John

Yes, Yes ,Yes.
The R4 tires that you would be looking for ARE in fact available for the B7100. I recently put a set on the rear of my B7100, the tire size and wheel size are the same as that of a L4310 Kubota FRONT wheel set, 10.00 X 16.5 with a bolt pattern of 6 on 6. They fit and work fine.

If serious about these tires, alot of orange dealers presently have an overstock of tire/wheel assemblies on hand, and are willing to sacrifice to move them...I know...that's how I picked up mine!

 Ever Seen R4 for B7100

Passed by my compound today and did a quick check, my B7100 has the 6 bolt front rims. Tractor was purchased with these tires & rims, originally set up by a dealer in Ontario but purchased in Saskatchewan via dealer exchange.

Front - Goodyear "TerraTire" 23 x 8.50 - 12 NHS (??)
Rears - Firestone 12 - 16.5

These are the only size's indicated on the tires. I could measure circumference on a warmer day if required.

WillieH:
Thats great info and I will look into it. But before I can use your recommended size for the Rear, I need to know what size you are using on the front to keep the F/R ratio compatible with 4WD.
Thanks again,

Sorry about that, I thought you were merely looking for the rear size. No Problem, stay tuned...Tomorrow I'll venture across to the barn, once the new 10 inch snow fall stops falling, and grab the size of the fronts for you.

OK, got across the yard to the barn...
The front tire size that I have matched up on the tractor
to the rears for the R4's are:
Front: 23 X 8.50-12NHS
Rear: 10.00 X 16.5NHS

As mentioned in a previous thread, sizing is important for proper syncronization of gearing front to back, to alleviate transmission "bucking". However, As tires wear, the tread wear thusly changes the circumference of the tire as well. So long as the ratio of Circ.'s stay reasonably aligned with each other, meaning front to rear size ratio, there will be no detriment to the drive train.

Just from a factory spec standpoint, the wearing of an Ag tire can change the height alone by as much as 2 - 3 inches on these compacts, and even more on larger units, without difficulties to the drive train.
The biggest area to notice the "buck", is on dry hard surface area of travel in 4WD. If your traveling in 2WD, you'll never, and the tranny will never, notice a thing. The traction slippage is going to allow , typically, enough drive train movement to compensate for any mismatch, providing the mismatch is not extreme,ie having similar size tires placed on fronts as those on the rears, where the fronts were designed to be considerably smaller by spec.
Hope this helps you out.

Willie H.
