 Need advice on B6200

I have been searching for a compact tractor for quite some type. I narrowed my search to Kubotas, and now I'm looking seriously at a B6200. The tractor has 830 hours, 4WD, 60" mower deck and rear blade. Agriculture tires in good shape-general overall condition very, very good. Asking price is $4900, I think I can get it for $4500. Some of you have told me thats a good price. What years were the '6200's? It's rated 15HP net-is this enough? Should I hold out for a 7200? How about parts?

Thanks

John Fundy

From tractortips, 6200's were made '83 - '94. They have 12.5 pto hp and weigh around 1,100 lbs. There were quite a few models--some with manual and some with hst. The TX and other features might make a difference to it's market value.

Whether it's good for you or not depends on its intended use. Basically, it's a small tractor that's also not particularly old as tractors go. However, it is a small tractor that has ag tires and that may limit its ideal uses a bit. Usually you think of similar tractors as good finish mowers, but ag tires would limit that idea a bit. Well, maybe the tractor is light enough that the ag wouldn't tear up a wet lawn too much.

Tires are cheap. If you don't like the ags, you can get turfs for $80 each in the back and cheaper in the front. But what would you want turf tires for? It's not a lawn mower, If you want a lawn mower then get a BX series. The 6200 is a phenomenal tractor and when I say tractor I mean TRACTOR not lawn mower. With a 6200 you can move dirt, build a road, pull a hog, clear land and drag large trees. Keep the ag tires, that's what real tractors are supposed to have. Save the turf tires for suburban lightweights who drive lawn mowers and think they are ranchers.

And if you really want your tractor to become 'beastly', put duals on the rear, like some of us do. (Har, Har, Har)

Duals? If they work out I'm thinking of getting tri-als and have 6 wheels in the back, and 4 in the front. Talk about a floaty ride.

All ag tires of course!

Hey, I have the opposite problem. I am buying a B6200 with loader and mover and it has the Turf tires. Do I need to buy new Wheels for it in order to put Ag tire on? The Ag tires look to be more narrow in the rear. Where is the best place it get them in New England.
