 Galaxy Turf Tires on B2910

I purchased a 2910 with Galaxy Turf Tires. Am having trouble mowing on a 3 to 1 slope with a 72-inch rear mower and have been told by one dealer to go with regular turf tires to correct the problem. (Rear wheel comes off ground.) Another dealer says to lower air pressure in Galaxy tires to correct the problem. The tires are loaded with calcium, which was suggested by someone else (but that didn't solve the problem). Both dealers say I cannot put wheel weights on. Does anybody have any other ideas?

I think that's a 33% grade, which is steeper than some people say is safe to work on. I hope it's not far to the bottom, and I'd think carefully about operating on it--especially after rains or even morning dews. Turfs on wet grass don't have a lot of traction.

I don't know how galaxy turfs are different from other turfs, but to a point it is true that reducing air pressure increases traction--if traction is the problem. I'm not sure under what conditions the rear wheels come off the ground or if that's what I'd call 'breaking traction.' It is also true that very wide turf or flotation tires can have less traction than regular turfs.

I think I'd start off by assessing how reasonable it is to work on such grades and then proceed to finding a solution. Experimenting with extreme ballast or tire pressures as a solution may disguise that the slope just may not be very reasonable to work on. Without knowing the soil type or exposure at the bottom, I'd say that there's a good chance that most any 33% grade can not be assumed to be acceptable safe under all conditions irrespective of tires or ballasting of any type.

I assume the dealers are saying that wheel weights shouldn't be used if the tires are loaded rather than that they aren't available. Extreme ballast is hard on drive trains. It may not be pleasant to contemplate, but a smaller mower may be a decent solution.

Sounds to me like he has a high center of gravity. I presume the tire that is coming off the ground is the higher tire on the slope? I would put front counter weights on or run with a loader on if he has one.
