 Ready to buy L3710 HST

First of all this site has been very helpful. I'm going into this tractor purchase following a steep learning curve. I went from knowing nothing about tractors to being able to make what I think is an informed decision between Kubota and JD. The comments from the people on this site are outstanding ! I promissed myself that I would not get into a brand loyalty thing. Especially when I learned that the JD is not an American made machine. I do lean heavily towards North American products. I drive old Ford, Chev and Dodge 4x4s...and I do know which is the best ...!

Its been difficult choosing a tractor because I really like both dealers and am pretty sure that I would be happy
with either. Heres the "thems fightin' words" stuff:

1. The Kubota came in at a much better price, especially when considering the HST. I was worried about the get what you pay for thing; but

2. The Kubota seams to be built like a brick-sh.t-house both underneath and in materials used in fenders, steering-wheels, etc.;

3. The Kubota fit me better and the controls seamed to make more sense to me, ie. brakes and clutch location. I even like the HST pedal on the Kubota even though at first I wasn't sure; and

4. Kubota has better financing for sure. 3.14 or (3.25)for five years.

There is one thing that I'm having some trouble with involving Kubota, however, and I hope that somebody here can help me before I sign on the dotted line. I'm having trouble comparing prices. I live in a very rural area with only one Kubota dealer and the fellow Kubota dealers in the province are doing a good job of respecting each others turf. They seem to be unwilling to give me prices over the phone. I can walk in off the street no problem but that means a lot of travelling. Anyway, enough babling... the price I have includes the L3710HST, R4 tires, LA 682 66" loader and a 60" Luck Now (non hydraulic) snow blower at 31,630 Canadian dollars. I think thats about 31,630/1.6 = 19,768 US dollars (yep God Bless America).
I better not stare at that money conversion too long or I may chicken out of this purchase and move to the States...! Any comments on this price would be very very welcome.

I did a search and came up with the following, looks like you are in the ballpark. You could also contact www.carverequipment.com, located in USA, and see what the price would be, they ship anywhere in the USA, not sure about North of the border.

By the way, you live in a great place, have spent several vacations in NS.

Good luck

Tom

Here you go, I just cut and paste..

Just got a price Saturday in upstate NY for a L3710 w/ loader, loaded tires, R4's and block heater - out the door (7% tax) - $20,756

I just recieved the following quote in Southern Michigan for a L-3710 HST with loader and Ind. tires, $21,875. This includes the $1400 rebate. This sounds a little high, especially with the rebate.

My dad just got a quote for that same tractor in Missouri for $19,000, with loader and r-4's

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your time. Yes good Ole Nova Scotia is a great place. I think I'll ask another question on this E-mail thing about loaded tires and accessories for the L3710. I'm not much for computers but this sure is helpful.

Thanks again !

Al

I don't know about 'American Made' but I have a JD 4610 that was built in GA. That's about as American Made as you can get these days.

Kubota is a fine machine. The reason I went JD was service.

Good luck
Billy

Assembled or built, it's the same thing. It's kinda like building a house from parts from all over, it was still built where you built it...Laughing out loud

You won't find anything built competely out of American parts.
